Choosing a Work From Home Business In The Energy Field
Starting back in 2004 - 2005 I began to hear a lot of interesting talk about a new business opportunity in the energy market in Texas. Many people from Excel had left the company because they had to. You see Excel had been going strong as a work from home business for a little over 10 years. Something happened and they dumped all their MLM sales people and provided their names to Shaklee. Some of the top people with Excel made millions and quickly went on to new more promising ventures.
From what I could see the top money makers in MLM seem to get invited at the beginning of each new promising MLM opp. They seem to get in at the beginning of these things creating a top down effect. The argument is that any business opportunity regardless of whether it is an MLM opp or not has a top down effect. Our republic democracy has a top down pyramid type shape say some. In an illegal pyramid the money always dries up eventually and only the top guys make money. An illegal pyramid resembles more of a Ponzi scheme like what Bernie Madolf pulled off then some of the legal multi-level marketing companies out there like Ambit Energy.
Before we go too lopsided rooting for MLM companies like Ambit Energy it should be noted that the competitor they modeled their business and compensation plan after, Ignite Energy, is involved in a class action lawsuit. The lawsuit alleges that several of Ignite Energy's sells reps paid over $300 to join a business opportunity but were not able to recoup the money even after signing up customers. The lawsuit names five companies related to Stream and 13 executives and top
sales associates, including someone by the name of Snyder. The issue is whether Stream's
marketing arm, Ignite Inc., deals lawfully with sales associates, or if its
recruitment strategy amounts to a pyramid scheme.
Ignite Energy and Stream serves about 360,000 electricity
customers in Texas which is quite a lot considering they gathered most of these customers through an MLM work from home opportunity. This direct sales business model is what made Excel telecommunications in the top 4 largest telecommunications companies in the United States. We should all remember even though Excel got to the top there was a quick down fall. Will Ambit Energy and Ignite Energy implode in a similar way as did Excel? According to some they would say that all MLM companies like these are in danger of failing because the business model can't sustain itself indefinitely. There are always a few top money makers and tens of thousands not even breaking even each year based on time and travel spent trying to make the business work.
The argument made about why very few make the massive amounts of money that the compensation plan shows is due to those people not working hard at the business. Some would say that even the hard workers that get into the business late are not able to make the type of money the consistent top money makers do. The top money makers go from one biz opp to the next usually exceeding the previous amount they made with a different company. Paul Orbeson from Excel was the million dollar man. He made millions with Excel and went on to start his own MLM business called Fortune High Tech Marketing. This business has made Paul nearly 200 million dollars. You can't argue that some people make it big and in fact Hollywood Oprah style big but this is a very small number. For most a work from home opportunity is more of a hobby and networking event.
When joining Ambit Energy or Ignite Energy you are getting into a business that can make you decent money but you must set your expectations that you won't necessarily make tens of thousands of dollars. If you are coached by one of the top dogs on exactly what you have to do to be a top money maker you might be able to achieve this. There are secrets that need to be taught on how to do this and some top money earners would tell you that the secrets are not things that can be published for fear of stepping over some illegal pyramid laws. Some top MLM money earners do it by the book but how many make the big bucks by the book is not known.
New Age Power Brokers is a broker agency that works for Glacial Energy. They sell Glacial Energy in a Direct sales business model but they are not an MLM company. New Age is a business to business referral service that signs up new customers through referring businesses. There are no monies made from sign up fees but only through customers. The commission is 40 percent of the commission they get from Glacial Energy which makes the commission a bit tight for the selling company. New Age Power Brokers does not have the excitement in the compensation plan that Ambit Energy and Ignite have but it is also a little more realistic to a more traditional way of having a home based business. The join fee is basically free and there isn't a downline based on fast start bonuses rep sign up fees.
An additional note should be made about Ignite Energy and the rules you must follow to sell their energy service and MLM business. Ignite does not allow any online advertising of any kind. Ambit Energy allows their reps to advertise all over the internet. If you sign up with Ignite and start advertising on the Google Ad network or other online sites I have heard they will shut you down immediately. Be sure to read the terms of service that come along with your rep agreement. It should state what you can and cannot do with Ignite, Ambit, and New Age Power Brokers.
Nothing too exciting to offer you hear but plain advice warning you of the bland mediocre results most people working MLM are accustomed to. The hype will always be there but the amount of big money makers is very small compared to the number of total sales associates in any one company. You may be that star that rises to the top and if you think you are that person than go for it but know about the odds and use your time wisely.

I have a small call center in Fort Lauderdale and am interested in selling discounted power.
From the little research I have done I must say I am very impressed with the way the country in regards to energy deregulation. In my mind it is pretty simple, less monopolies = more private investing = more competition = better pricing for the consumer.
There is a very good blog post I found doing a side by side comparison with the two main direct marketing energy companies. Thought you and other might be interested.
I was a rep with ignite and got no where fast. Im now with Ambit and love it. Ignite has to many rules that prevent you from going anywhere. Were Ambit gives you many ways to make your business work.
I get a call from an Ignite leads once a week and they ask me, "Whats the big difference between Ignite Energy and Ambit Energy?"

Glacial Energy is a great choice for an "agent" to develop business in the deregulated energy market. Glacial Energy is not a MLM model, but Business Development Managers set up agents to develop local commercial energy business.
I just watched an Ignite presentation implementing commercial for all of thier downlines, but they only pay around $60 total for commercial energy accounts over 300,000kWh.
Glacial Energy Business Development Managers can set up an agent to receive anywhere from .001 to .0015 mils for every commercial kWh an agent's customer uses.
So you tell me, is $60 or $600 (assuming 300,000kWh)?
That's what I thought, contact a Glacial Business Development Manager Today!
